What is GTEP?
GTEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol) is a gentle and structured form of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It helps people process difficult or traumatic medical experiences — like ER visits, surgery, or ongoing medical stress — in a safe, supportive group setting.
How can GTEP help me as a patient with endometriosis?
Many women with endometriosis experience:
Stress and anxiety about medical appointments or surgery
Frustration with years of being dismissed or misdiagnosed
Trauma from painful procedures or emergency situations
Emotional exhaustion from living with chronic pain
GTEP can help you:
Reduce emotional distress connected to medical trauma
Feel calmer and more in control before and after surgery
Connect with others who understand what you’ve been through
Build resilience and reclaim peace of mind
What happens in a GTEP Session?
Small group format (online or in-person)
Guided, step-by-step process led by a trained EMDR therapist
No need to share your story in detail — you work privately on your own memories while benefiting from group support
Sessions usually last 2–3 hours
Do I have to talk about my trauma?
No. Unlike traditional talk therapy, GTEP does not require you to describe your experience out loud. You can process your memories quietly, at your own pace, with structured guidance.
Is GTEP right for me?
GTEP may be a good fit if you:
Have experienced stressful or traumatic medical events
Are preparing for or recovering from surgery
Feel anxious, angry, or exhausted from ongoing care
Want a supportive, evidence-based approach that doesn’t require re-telling your story
How do I pay for GTEP?
Accepted: HSA/FSA cards and some insurance plans
Superbills are provided for out-of-network reimbursement
Affordable group rate compared to individual therapy
